The Year of the Road Trip - How to Travel During the Coronavirus Pandemic in 2020

The coronavirus, aka COVID-19, has instilled a horrific fear in the minds of just about every person on the planet. Most of this is due to the media brainwashing us with nothing but negative news regarding the travel industry. Part of our sanity as citizens of the world is to be able to decipher between the facts and myths surrounding this global pandemic.

Let's bring some positivity and hope to this madness.

2020 could be the "Year of the Road Trip".

The good news (not only for Americans) is that there is a way to travel like a rock star in 2020. If you play your cards right you can visit an incredible place such as:

Painted Hills - July 2019

Reasons to take a road trip in 2020:

  • Freedom to create your own itinerary

  • Depart on your own time

  • Avoid busy airports with people coughing and sneezing

  • Avoid congested airplanes with people coughing and sneezing

  • Enjoy the fresh country air

  • Escape busy cities and seek national parks

  • Check off some of your bucket list destinations

Tips for staying virus-free:

  • Buy lots of sanitary wipes

  • Wipe down your steering wheel often, even if you're the only driver

  • Wipe down your cell phone every now and then. That thing is nastier than a toilet seat!

  • Wipe your butt

  • Keep a bottle of Purell in your center console

  • Ensure all travelers remain coronavirus symptom-free

  • Always pack the road trip essentials

Be sure to sanitize after:

  • Pumping gas (except in New Jersey & Oregon)

  • Opening doors

  • Every few hours of driving or cell phone usage

  • Handling photography equipment

  • Any rest stop

  • Any restroom usage

To plan your road trip, I highly recommend using Roadtrippers. It'll save you loads of time organizing your itinerary while inspiring you with new stops you wouldn't have thought of.
