5 Best Stocks to Buy and Hold in 2021

Updated: Feb 26, 2022

Note: This is not trading advice. These are simply my own opinions.

What is a stock?

A stock of a corporation is all of the shares into which ownership of the corporation is divided.

Where can you buy stocks?

You can purchase stocks using any stockbroker. Here are the platforms that I recommend from experience:

  • E*TRADE. Arguably the best platform to trade, hands down. Better for advanced traders than beginner though. E*TRADE does not charge commission for trades.

  • Robinhood. I was very anti-Robinhood at first, but it's hands down the best mobile platform for beginner and even advanced trading. So easy and inuitive and great for trading options. Use my link to create your account and receive a free stock right away. Robinhood does not charge commission for trades.

Here are the best stocks to buy and hold in 2021 (in my opinion):

Tesla (TSLA)

Why?

One of the greatest entrepreneurs of all-time, Elon Musk (Tesla's founder), will deliver on all cylinders (pun intended) in 2021. Tesla's 52 week range is $70-$770 (as of January 6th 2021). The stock split back in August 2020 and we can expect another split once this creeps back over $2,000, if possible. Oh, they were also just added to the S&P 500.

2021 Target Price: $1,700

Apple (AAPL)

Why?

Apple is always a rock-solid company to buy. They always impress, year after year. Their stock has split multiple times. If you owned $1,000 worth of Apple in the 1980s, your shares would be worth 100 million today. They split again in 2020 and may once again in 4-5 years. There are some wars going on in relation to their app store, which may hinder it's 2021 growth, but this is one of the best long term plays on the market.

2021 Target Price: $200

Why?

Enphase is also set the join the S&P 500, a tremendous feat from where they were 1 year ago. Their 52 week range is $20-$210 and the engine will not stop here. They have exciting partnerships and projects going on for what is sure to be an exciting 2021.

2021 Target Price: $330

Why?

This is the ETF for the S&P 500, a portfolio of 500 large companies, among the most profitable in the world. This ETF is a bar for the overall strength of the US economy. The 52 week range is $218-$378 and I only have high hopes of another strong year in 2021.

2021 Target Price: $490

Netflix (NFLX)

Why?

You use, your friends use it, your family uses it. We all use it. Even with Disney's attempt at market disruption with Disney+, this will soar to new highs once again. It's 52 week range is $290-$575.

2021 Target Price: $700
