Best Bars South of Fifth - Miami Beach

South of Fifth, aka SoFi, is a neighborhood in Miami Beach from 1st to 5th street. It's the quietest area of South Beach and my personal favorite area. Here is a list of the best places to grab a drink in SoFi, whether at a bar or a table.

The Local House

Neighborhood: SoFi

Address: 400 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139

What's unique? It's the only venue I've found on Ocean Drive with REAL staff members who appear to like their job, not salesmen and saleswomen trying to lure you in. Fact!

What's great? Their drink menu and the breakfast food.

What's not great? Not much!

Tip: The Huevos Rancheros are out of control.

Smith & Wollensky (Outside Bar)

Neighborhood: SoFi

Address: 1 Washington Avenue, South Pointe Park, Miami Beach, FL 33139

What's unique? It's one of the best water views in Miami and the only place where you can watch the cruise ships sail by while enjoying a cocktail.

What's great? Their very acceptable cocktail menu

What's not great? Nothing!

Tip: Avoid peak-time at the restaurant.

South Pointe Tavern

Neighborhood: SoFi

Address: 40 S Pointe Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139

What's unique? The location.

What's great? Grabbing a beer and some food after some surfing.

What's not great? The beer selection could be better.

Tip: If you decide to eat something, get their Cuban sandwich.

Monty's Sunset

Neighborhood: Miami Beach

Address: 300 Alton Road, Miami Beach, FL 33139

What's unique? Located right on the water!

What's great? The party atmosphere.

What's not great? Don't go if you're looking for a very casual drink.

Tip: You'll likely have to valet your car if you drive. Drink responsibly!

Nikki Beach

Neighborhood: SoFi

Address: 1 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139

What's unique? The lounge area is in the sand. Cool. It's pretty much the closest bar/restaurant to the beach.

What's great? Their brunch buffet.

What's not great? The cost of their brunch buffet.

Tip: Figure out how long you'll be staying. It could be better if you street park. You can actually get blocked in if you pay to park in their lot.

Ted's Hideaway

Neighborhood: SoFi

Address: 124 2nd Street, Miami Beach, FL 33139

What's unique? A fun and rare true dive bar in Miami Beach.

What's great? Cheap drinks, games, and good bar food. Lots of TVs for the small space.

What's not great? Cleanliness, but that's expected.

Tip: It's around the corner from Big Pink, easy to miss.
